Devery McCain

Meet Devery McCain

Devery McCain began her career as an LBT Bus Operator 33 years ago. With no previous driving experience, Devery applied to LBT in the hopes of finding a job that would offer the flexibility she needed to be a working mom. She recalls, “I wanted to be able to raise my kids and go to work. LBT gave me that opportunity and provided all the training necessary to become a Bus Operator.”

Devery’s favorite thing about being a Bus Operator is getting to know customers and building relationships within the community. “I enjoy working out on the road instead of inside an office. I’m also a very social person and I like that my work allows me to interact with the public. Over the years I’ve gotten to know quite a few customers by name and I recognize a lot of faces on my route,” she shared.

When she’s not behind the wheel, Devery enjoys spending time with her three grandchildren and travelling with friends. “I love visiting new places, and hope to start traveling again soon. So far Jamaica has been my favorite destination.”

With over three decades of experience, Devery says one of the most important qualities for a Bus Operator to have is patience. “It’s a diverse city and you deal with a lot of different personalities. In my book, patience leads to better communication and helps me serve our customers as best I can.”

LBT is currently looking to hire more customer-oriented Bus Operators like Devery – no bus driving experience needed! If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Bus Operator at LBT, visit ridelbt.com/careers.
